Yahoo Messenger problem, sorry don't know where to post

One day, my YM just won't sign in whatever i do. It keeps telling me to try typing my user name and password again. So i uninstalled and reinstalled. I tried installing both 8.1 and the 9 Beta but both have the same problem. After reaching 80%+ percent, an error occurs. Please see attached JPEGS for what happens. Despite the errors, the program gets installed but my original problem remains, it still tells me to TRY AGAIN. Don't know how else to fix this.

Appreciate any help. Thanks

Hi berts_pmn2n!!

It seems like your setup file is corrupted. Maybe you can try to download the file once again, and try reinstalling it again?

Actually tried that. Deleted the Yahoo Messenger folder. Even ran a search of any traces of messenger and deleted those too. Even deleted stuff from my registry (which i now regret). Still, same ol problem.

Hi again berts_pmn2n!!

Emm, it still tells you to keep trying again? Just to make sure, did you install the YM while the internet line is running?

Re: Yahoo Messenger problem, sorry don't know where to post

I downloaded the full installer so now i don't have the downloading problems. But my old problem of not being able to log in persists. "There was a problem signing into Yahoo! Messenger. Please try again a little bit later." and later and later and later. Could i have messed up my Registry? I have Norton Internet Security 2008. I don't think i blocked Yahoo! Messenger myself, but could that happen? Thanks

Ok, so you have installed the YM now, but it not allowed you to connect to the internet? Try to check the NIS 2008 as below:

NIS Home > Settings > Personal Firewall > Configure > Program Controls > Yahoo Messenger (choose Allow)

See whether your YM working after you do this
