When it pops up with an error does it say that the file ie being used by something else or that you need to insert a cd, or what does it say?

Re: Recycle bin wont empty

It says, as i posted, that "recyle bin cannot remove folder" and it names the folder. Its an old folder that i deleted some time ago.

To make sure you understand what i am saying.

No.
What happens is this. I manually decide to empty the recycle bin and i execute the command in windows from the desktop.
Recyle bin starts to empty itself. At some point i get a message saying something like this: "recyle bin cannot remove folder A TODO". Then i click on that message and recycle bin turns off and goes back to its place on the desktop. When i go to the recycle bin and right click on it to check the contents of recycle bin, there is nothing there, it is either empty or appears to be empty as i see nothing.

Re: Recycle bin wont empty

Try disabling recycle bin and see if that does anything.

Right click on recycle bin > properties > uncheck "do not move..."

Re: Recycle bin wont empty

Hi nork!!

So, can I know whether you still have that particular folder on your system, or you cannot find that particular folder already? Try to browse to the original destination of that folder and see whether you can find the folder there?

There is a possibility the folder contains an extended character filename or a very long filename files, which cannot handled by recycle bin.

Then click on OK, restart your computer, re-enable recycle bin and see if you still have the same problem. Sometimes, these computers need a good kick in the ***. Disabling and re-enabling might do the trick.

Re: Recycle bin wont empty

If the fix above, to turn recycle bin off, was just to simply turn it off, i know i could do that, i thought there were further instructions coming, lol. I dont have a problem with recycle bin being turned on. It works fine, doesnt come on on its own, it only works when its supposed to, namely when i do a manual "empty".
Therefore i will be turning it back on.

Heres the issue again:

I right click on recycle bin and open it. It appears empty. I close it and attempt a manual "empty recycle bin". I get a message saying "are you sure you want to delete these 30 items". I click on yes and then i get an error message that states "Cannot remove folder A TWO O TWO: the directory is not empty.

Now i went to favorites and found the folder. I emptied it and still got the error in recycle bin. So i deleted the folder and i still get the error in recycle bin.

Re: Recycle bin wont empty

It appears to be ok now. There was nothing to empty so the "empty recycle bin" was greyed out. I deleted a folder and then emptied the recycle bin and all seems to be well now.
I will report back if the problem comes up again.
At this point it seems its fixed but you never know.

thanks
