Retrieving misplaced files
Hi all,
One of my kids accidentally moved some files into a folder created/used for a software update - the kind of folder with the long names like 95747b2c9082872a92b5ce73f9ab. I now can't retrieve these files, trying both copying and moving to get the files out. I've looked at the folder properties in the hopes of finding something but with no luck. Any ideas on how to get these files out of this folder and back in to the real world? |

Re: Retrieving misplaced files
Might be a stupid question, but WHY exactly cant you copy those files out?
EDIT: I know of several ways, but i need to know why you cant get them out. The error message you get.

Re: Retrieving misplaced files
Hi Malevolent,
The message I get when copying or moving is "Error Copying File or Folder - Cannot copy _2:Access is denied - Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use". That's the whole message. |

Re: Retrieving misplaced files
OK, where is this folder?
I think it might be locked by system, but we can get around that. I just need to know where it is to make sure. So give me the full path to it. As in: C:\Program Files\Uselessfiles etc.\i need this file.xxx

Re: Retrieving misplaced files
OK.
When you right-click on the folder, can you go to: Properties->attributes There's hidden & read-only. Any X's there are a NO. Take'm off.
