Ethernet Controller Code 28

I'm working on a Dell Dimension 4550 with Windows XP, just did a clean and reformat, everything was going just fine with updating device drivers until I got to the Ethernet Controller driver. I've been reading through the threads here and I've seen other people with this issue, but I tried their fixes (Intel's download area as well as Dell's support/downloads) and not been able to do anything.

I'm also having trouble with finding the SM Bus Card. I have all the blue install disks, but I tried each one of them when prompted to search a disk and it found nothing, any help is greatly appreciated.

I'm having the same problem except my whole system crashed. I've reformatted and getting things going again but have no ethernet controller or multimedia audio controller. No sound! I have also been to Dell Support/download and so far "nothing".

Try the Motherboard CD that came with the machine.
