boot disc

i have just created a boot disc through pe builder but how do i know that it is a sucessfull burnt disc is there a way of testing the disc to see if it works without ruining my computer,and when and where can or should i use this disc.

You could test it on your own computer and see if it works successfully. You need to change your boot order in BIOS so you can boot from CD. To do this, as the computer loads up press the key to enter into BIOS. This is usually F2, F10, F12 etc. This key may also be displayed on screen during boot. Then once in BIOS find the boot order section and configure it so the CD drive is first on the list, followed by the hard drive. Then save and reboot. Insert the CD into the drive and reboot.

You can also test the Boot CD inside of a Virtual Machine. See here. If you go this route follow the directions until you get to the part about installing XP.
