Blue Screen Errors while playing games
hello,
i've been having this problem for about 3 months. I will be playing a game, usually something resource intensive such as unreal tournament 2004 or warcraft 3, and the computer will give me a blue screen error about 30 minutes into the game. I've tried just about everything to fix this problem. The error is DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR _EQUAL there's a stop code as well, if anyone wants to look at it. Also, I have mps reports and minidumps from 2 or 3 of the incidents, but the dumps are all corrupted. At first, i thought it was a video driver problem. So i tried about 6 different versions of ATI's drivers. That didn't work. Then someone tipped me off to sound driver problems. I replaced my onboard sound with a sound card. This seemed to solve at least part of the problem, the system would crash much less often. However, now games would just crash to windows every 30 minutes instead of having a blue screen error. So i tried installing service pack 2, using windows update. This caused a file to become corrupt, and caused windows not to be able to boot. I formatted, reinstalled windows with service pack 2 already on it. I then did windows update, and got all of the necessary updates, and then i installed the drivers for: my wireless lan card my chipset my sound card my printer i used the microsoft drivers that came with service pack 2 for video, thinking these would be absolutely compatible. So after running a game for about an hour, it crashes to windows. So i start turning ut2k4 on at night, in spectate mode, to see if i can get more crashes. This morning, i woke up to a blue screen. So I wanted to know, does anyone have any idea as to what could be going on? The only things i haven't tried: Updating the bios getting a new power supply RMAing the RAM\Video Card Selling the motherboard (Can no longer be returned to Manufacturer) My system specifications: AMD Athlon 64 3500+ ATI 9800 Pro Gigabyte K8NSNXP-939 1 Gigabyte of Corsair Valueselect Ram Western Digital Raptor 37.4 Gigabyte Hard Drive Creative Sound Blaster Live! sound card. any help is appreciated! |
