Partitioning killed my system

I have been running XP Pro for a while and several of my games and emulators weren't working properly so I've switched to 98SE /XP Pro.
In order to do this I partitioned the drive
c: 10 Gig Fat32
D: 60 Gig NTFS
E: 6 Gig FAT32 Share drive

Having done this, all my games work, but my performance has fallen through the floor.

I am running P4 2.8 Ghz
1Gb DDR -PC3200 Ram
128 Mb MSI Video Card

and I have difficulty running games that require 32mb Ram and 4 Mb video card.
This PC is not and has not been connected to the internet so is unlikely to have spyware and has been virus checked.

Is there something wrong with the way I partitoned it??
I need two operating systems, and some of my work needs NTFS, other that that I dont care how its partitioned.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

OS: Windows 98 & Windows XP Home/Pro

My System

Welcome to TSF.

Is this a clean format and install of both the OS's? Are these games you are having trouble with running in Windows 98 or XP? If XP, try using the Compatibility Wizard to see if it will work better. Just right click on the game and go to Properties. Then compatibility tab.
