My System

Dialup Error 720 (state=6)

I appear to have problems with the TCP/IP configuration. I run the Program PDANet from June Fabrics as a way to tether my notebook through my smart phone to the internet it connects to from the cell provider. It has worked well on other computers I've used however on this T42p I cannot get it to work.

It gives me the following error:

dialup error 720 (state=6)

PDANet website FAQ says the following:

I got dialup error 720 (state=6).

In most cases this error is caused by corrupted network configurations on your computer, especially if PdaNet works for you before or on a different computer. It could be because of installation of some network or security software that impacts dialup connections. Try to search for "dialup error 720" on the Internet and you might be able find some suggestions that could resolve the computer issue.

I looked that up on Google and found a Microsoft dialog on resetting TP/ICP stuff but it didn't make sense to me. Perhaps a more user friendly walk through?

I do know I used IBM's Access connections for some time and just recently removed that software to go back to using Microsoft's wireless interface.

Perhaps something got tweaked in that process?

This may dovetail into my networking problem I want to address in that forum wherein my computer cannot be seen by others in the network. From time to time it can't see the other computers either.

Thanks for taking time to look over this.

FWIW,

I have gone through the vetting process in the Hijack forum.

Pencil Re: Dialup Error 720 (state=6)

Hi there.... I don't know how old this posting was... but I just had a similar problem....

Microsoft's method for fixing the 720 is as follows....

Run this command from the command line box (cmd)
netsh ip reset resetlog.txt

It takes a while, but when it has finished type the following in
notepad resetlog.txt

At the end of the file you should see that it says <completed>

Re: Dialup Error 720 (state=6)

It was made on November 11, 2007 this is quite an old thread. I doubt if the person is going to take another look at it. But thanks for trying to answer it anyways.

The dates are in the upper left border of the posting box.
