[SOLVED] [TheMajor-All-In-One-Post] Intel HT, dual CPU, 32 and 64bit questions and mo

Hi all,

I hope this the right forum to post CPU related questions?

I am a confused, here are some simple questions:

1) When running a single thread process it only runs on one CPU when using a dual CPU system. When running a single thread process on a HT CPU it runs only on one virtual CPU using half of its performance, right?

2) When running 2 sigle thread processes, do both run on different (virtual) CPU's? Meaning HT also increases overall performance without using applications with mutiple threads? (Like Photoshop)

3) Does running a 32bits application on a 64bits CPU have any advantages over running them on a 32bits CPU?

4) Does an AMD 64 CPU have any advatages over a 32bit CPU when using only 32bit OS and software?

5) What differences in FSB speeds between 64 and 32bit CPU's need to be considered when buying memory?

6) FSB x MULTIPLIER = Clock speed; What are the differences between Intel FSB and AMD FSB speeds? Its doesn't work the same as far as I know.

7) RAM speeds: The actual RAM speed of a DDR400 module is 200MHz right? I know that the RAM speed should be the same as the FSB speed for optimal preformance, but what about the Intel 800MHz or AMD 1600MHz FSB speeds, they are way faster?

Thanks for helping me in advance!!!
