Lately I've had some issues shutting my computer down.
The last several times I've tried to shutdown or restart, it hangs on the "Windows is Shutting Down" screen. Every once in a while, it will BSOD instead, with the message: Quote:

I can't really think of anything I've added to my comp. recently that would cause this. A couple weeks ago I was having a different problem, where the computer would turn off randomly (and now it won't shut down. ironic, isn't it :( ) That thread is here. Which reminds me, I should update that thread. Thanks in advance for any input. |

Re: Shutdown problems
1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type services.msc, and then click OK. 3. Double-click Help and Support. 4. For Startup type, click Automatic, and then click OK. See if the error continues if it does download and reinstall this MS update http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/ms04-015.mspx Last edited by Doby : 04-19-2007 at 07:38 PM. |

Re: Shutdown problems
Alright, I'm not quite sure what's going on now, but it hasn't continued to bsod on shutdown.
This is what I did: In services.msc, I disabled iPod service, set DCOM to 'restart service' instead of 'restart computer' on failure. I also had been having problems viewing my McAfee log files (for access protection and such), so I attempted to reinstall that, except I found out I wasn't licensed to use the McAfee Enterprise through school anymore, so I had to install McAfee VirusScan 11. Nothing I did seemed to directly fix the problem, but after booting into Fedora Core 6 for some work I had to do, I haven't had any problems booting or shutting down Windows. I'll let you know if the problems continues/resurface. |
