Re: Xp Keeps Restarting

Well, you probably know this by now.. but that was a big no-no.

Anyway, have you tried a repair installation using the OS installation disk? This may help. Just put the disk in and restart the computer, select boot to disk and then choose the repair OS function when asked. Let us know if you need more help.

Re: Xp Keeps Restarting

The repair install is good advice, so I don't want you to discount that issue. That would be the second thing I would recommend.

However, if you have not tried that yet, you might try clearing the CMOS a try. Some times (if you turned it off without the program having an opportunity to save things), it can corrupt the Bios setup menu and clearing the CMOS may (not will, but may) solve that issue if that is what it is. It may depend upon how far in the update process you were.

Re: Xp Keeps Restarting

ok i tried the repair install except it doesnt give me an option of repair...it says i have to do a clean install which i cannot afford to do. i have about 100GB of important information on the computer...what should i do???

can i make a partition and then install windows on that which will enable me to still keep my files and programs, yet still be able to run windows normally???
