Problems downloading and streaming files from the Internet

Hi I recently bought a new laptop and ever since I got it I have had problems downloading and streaming files, what happens is that they just stop half way through.

I have tried getting a download manager but this did not work as not all sites support the pausing of downloads, I have also tried using Opera and Internet Explorer to check whether it was just a problem with firefox however neither of these have worked either.

I know it is not a problem with my internet connection because my desktop pc can stream and download files fine.

Any help on this problem will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Problems downloading and streaming files from the Internet

I'm using a router to share my internet connection but I don't think it is a problem with my connection because my desktop pc downloads and streams fine.

My anti virus software is Avast!, spyware is Ad-Aware I haven't run a scan yet because I've only had this laptop a couple of weeks, I'll go run both now.

Problems been here since getting it so ongoing.

My laptop has been connected to the internet for aslong as I have had it so a couple of weeks.

I don't like AVG I've had it before, I use Avast! because I've never had any problems with it unlike when I used to have Norton *shudders*
