Nasty Virus Problem
Hey everyone, every bit of hardware on my computer is now showing up with a New Hardware box on start up saying 'invalid data', I found out that computer has a virus that has overwritten most of the registry and now disabled my CD-ROM drive. I need to format it since no antivirus software gets rid of it as every time an AV is run the virus kills the scan. Any ideas on how to reformat it or anything at all that will solve this? Please I've got some big exams coming up soon.
Thanks ![]() |

Re: Nasty Virus Problem
The virus has also disabled my wireless internet adapter, blocking communication to it. I dare not connect it straight to the router because I don't know if it will hop into the router and infect the other 4 PCs connected to it.

Re: Nasty Virus Problem
go to http://bootdisk.com/ and make a boot floppy that will allow you to use your CD then install.

Re: Nasty Virus Problem
Well you can't get to windows so the run command won't help. You must be able to boot to do a command prompt command. Using the boot disk you will be able to make DOS type commands are you in to DOS commands? I can help you with most of that not too hard.

Re: Nasty Virus Problem
I can get windows to run in safe mode with command prompt, if I press F8 at boot up. I've got Windows 95 copied onto the computer ready to install so that I can use that and restart in MS-DOS mode which I've done before to reformat computers. All I need to do is get the setup file to run from safe mode command prompt
