Annoying error message when copying...

"Windows encountered a problem when trying to copy this file. What do you want Windows to do? [Retry] [Cancel]"

I'm trying to send it to my DVD drive so I can burn it, but it won't go. It's doing it with any and all files I try. I've never had this problem before. Everything else had burned fine in the past. Anybody know what's up and if/how I can fix it?

DVD drive is a Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-111D.

Re: Annoying error message when copying...

Did the DVD burner come with its own software for burning. May be worth trying that to see if the issue resides with Windows being useless or the DVD drive itself.

Re: Annoying error message when copying...

Why do you not use the burning software which should have been supplied with the drive/system?

Are you trying to write a DVD using the rudimentary CD burning function in windows? The native windows burning program only supports Cd writing it does not support DVD writing. If you want to write DVD's then you need burning software to do it. If you bought a retail version of the DVD burner there should be burning software with it. If you bought an OEM that didnt come with burning software then your either going to have to buy some or use freeware like DeepBurner.

Re: Annoying error message when copying...

It's an OEM and didn't come with software. And I have no other burning programs on my machine. DeepBurner sounds familiar... I think I've tried it and it was a piece of junk. I'll try it, though.

I've been using CDBurnerXP for quite a while now and it works fantastic.

Re: Annoying error message when copying...

Tried that one, too. It kept failing and messing up my discs.

Do a google search for Nero 7 OEM. You'll find some very fair deals (don't be alarmed by the low prices - they are legit. I get mine from my supplier at a little less than those rates).

Since this never happened before, is this a different type/brand of media? Because all media are definitely not created equal. I would ask at CDfreaks.com
