exe problem

Hi, i'm having some installing problems. Some programs will install fine but some will just start up and then freeze, tried using windows task manager to end the process but the installation screen just stays there frozen not responding. Everytime this happens i have to install whatever program i'm trying to install in safe mode, if i try to install it in normal mode it'll just freeze and not respond.

Could someone tell me what kind of problem i'm having and ways i can fix it please?

Could it be a registry related problem?

the name of the program
check if your a/virus is running a scan in the background or defrag is running when the problem occurs

2 most recent programs i can remember are online games called Scions of Fate and Ragnarok online, the other programs where i had this problem were a few audio converter programs. Also when i try to restart the computer the program is still frozen so i have to press the restart button.

in the run box type
sfc /scannow
and press enter
also run
chkdsk /r
