Frequent Data Execution Prevention Error
Hi all,
My computer recently started experiencing frequent Data Execution Prevention messages, usually appearing when I try to close too many programs at once. It almost always occurs when I exit all of my programs prior to shutting off my computer. As I click on the "start" button, a small box appears saying something like: Data Execution Prevention For the safety of your computer, Windows has closed the following program: Windows Explorer After I choose what I believe is a button titled "close message," oftentimes another error message appears saying "Dr Watson Postmortem Debugger has experienced a problem and needs to close" (or something along those lines - please bear with me as I'm typing this from my own memory). Regardless of if the Dr Watson error message occurs, my computer usually proceeds to completely freeze and I have to turn it off manually. It is frustrating to deal with this "Data Execution Prevention" message time and time again almost every time I close more than one window or program at a time, and especially when I'm trying to shut down my computer. This problem never occurred until a couple of weeks ago. I haven't installed anything new on the computer other than a few video editing programs (now all uninstalled except for one - TMPGEnc 4.0 to be exact), and I have RAM to spare. Any tips? I've posted my Hijack This log below, although I'm not sure if whatever is causing the problem runs before the error message occurs. Thanks so much to anyone who can help! I'm also aware how to turn this message off, but it's not that I want to necessarily disable Data Execution Prevention, but rather find out what's constantly causing this message. Again, thank you so much. Last edited by smitten : 03-19-2007 at 04:16 PM. |
