Re: Username not showing up at login screen in safe mode

worried as to why you are scanning in safe mode.

safe mode is just that safe mode, it'll probably come up clean by virtue of being in safe mode.

Re: Username not showing up at login screen in safe mode

I was told that this is the best was to use these programs AVG, Spybot, Adaware, to scan in safe mode.

Re: Username not showing up at login screen in safe mode

not really as safe mode boots up the computer with the absolute absolute basic drivers for everything, to minimalise the possibility of a system crash in the event of system instability. therefore all the nasties your scanning for while in safe mode probably cant do anything because you in safe mode and due to that they probably wont be detected.

thts my guess at least...

You are correct. We use Safe Mode because malware can, and does, use a Normal boot to load/restore itself. By scanning in Safe Mode you have a better chance of clearing out malware without interference. You can use them in Normal but Safe is better.

Not sure about the users problem, but most scanners will have an option to scan all drives and/or all users, so I would check your settings and see what's available.

Re: Username not showing up at login screen in safe mode

When you boot into Safe Mode and see the one user account and the Administrator account, use the down arrow key to access the other accounts, it should show all admin accounts
