Computer does not boot when on battery

When on battery, my computer fails to boot. It displays Windows XP logo and loads things but when going into graphics mode it freezes (actually when Windows XP logo disappears it freezes). When on AC Power it boots ok. It looks strange to me. What could be wrong?

P.S.: Safe mode works even when running on battery. If I disconnect AC when XP is already loaded, it doesn't freeze. It works OK at first, but I must test it a little more to be sure. Computer is HP nc8430.

On first boot, there is a power drain from the source.
Sounds to me like you need a battery, how old is it?

Then it should be under warranty.
In your power options in the control panel, everything seems to be at default setting?

Re: Computer does not boot when on battery

I tried to replace battery but the problem still exists. I think Power Options are normal, I have only set Hibernation and Stand by to Never.

Is there any chance to get a log of boot activity to see what is the problem? Maybe you have better idea?

Thank you!

Re: Computer does not boot when on battery

I tried some more things. I tried restoring OS to an earlier date with System Restore. Suddenly all started to working even on battery. But after few hours problem was back. I tried another System Restore point. It was the same. At first OK, then problems. I really don't know anymore what is going on. I don't want to format computer because it is my work computer and I don't want to lose 2 days to install everything back up. Please help me! Should I post to Laptop forum instead?
