Machine won't load Windows...

Keep in mind, this machine was running phenomenal just yesterday! I just built an Athlon x2 5200 on a BFG nforce 590 mobo. 2 gigs ocz platinum memory, 250gb wd sata hdd & a samsung sata burner. oh yeah, & an msi 8800gts 640mb factory oc'd video card. Yesterday, I spent an hour on the phone with BFG tech support & we couldn't figure out what the problem is. The machine just stopped loading. It goes through the boot process, shows the processor, all the memory & then shows the hdd & the dvd burner. Then it attempts to load windows (windows splash screen...black screen with just the windows logo in the middle & the little progress bar below it.) After that, a screen flashes way too quickly for me to see what it says & then it starts the entire boot process from scratch. It's just caught in an endless cycle. I tried booting from cd & that didn't work, either (with neither the motherboard cd nor the windows xp cd.) I don't know what the hell else to do other than send the mobo back for a replacement??? I don't know what else to try. It SEEMS like it may be a windows corruption problem, but I don't know for sure??? It absolutely WILL NOT boot from the windows disc.

OK, if it were just the HDD and windows, you'd guess windows. But it won't boot to any dvd/cdrom either?

My money is on the mobo being bad. Like probably the South Bridge or its connectivity somewhere. Since it ran fine before, it doesn't sound like a settings issue anywhere.

I guess I'd reinstall ALL of the mobo drivers after getting the latest from the maker's web site. Then I'd install, one at a time, an older, maybe more stable version of each mobo driver. This would be just for drill because it all worked fine. However, there could be corruption somewhere.

Did you by any chance flash the bios? You might try updating that too if you didn't, and roll it back if you did? I doubt that's it, but there are some basic instructions there that can get corrupt.

Good luck,

JB
