You stated in the HJT Log Help Forum your mouse issue was resolved, has it returned?

At what point is it slow booting? Before your desktop appears or as your desktop is loading?

What programs do you have running at startup? Eliminating uneccessary startup programs can help the system boot faster

Download StartupList :
A simple tool that lists all and every auto starting program on your system. You might be surprised what it finds, this is way better than Msconfig. Commonly used to troubleshoot malfunctioning systems, trojan/viral infections, new spyware/malware breed and the likes.

Download HERE

I can help you eliminate uneccessary programs

These do not need to be running at startup, they can safely be unchecked via the system configuration utility

utorrent(2).exe
InCDsrv.exe
CTDetect.exe
QuickDCF.exe
HPWuSchd2.exe
jusched.exe
firefox.exe ??
MsnMsgr.Exe
E_S10IC2.EXE

Geekgirl, I had some difficulty reading this report. A lot of information, some of which seemed redundant for reasons I don't understand.

However:

Quote:
!AVG Anti-Spyware = "C:\Program Files\Grisoft\AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5\avgas.exe" /minimized
ASUS Probe = C:\Program Files\ASUS\Probe\AsusProb.exe
avgnt = "C:\Program Files\AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic\avgnt.exe" /min
DAEMON Tools-1033 = "C:\Program Files\D-Tools\daemon.exe" -lang 1033
DSLAGENTEXE = dslagent.exe USB
EPSON Stylus C63 Series = C:\WINDOWS\System32\spool\DRIVERS\W32X86\3\E_S10IC2.EXE /P23 "EPSON Stylus C63 Series" /O6 "USB001" /M "Stylus C63"
GSICONEXE = GSICON.EXE
HotKey = C:\WINDOWS\Twain_32\4100\HotKey.exe
HP Software Update = C:\Program Files\HP\HP Software Update\HPWuSchd2.exe
HPHUPD08 = C:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\{33D6CC28-9F75-4d1b-A11D-98895B3A3729}\hphupd08.exe
KenKeybd = C:\PROGRA~1\Keyboard\Ikeymain.exe
Mercora = "C:\Program Files\Mercora\MercoraClient.exe" -startup
MSConfig = C:\WINDOWS\PCHealth\HelpCtr\Binaries\MSConfig.exe /auto
NeroFilterCheck = C:\WINDOWS\system32\NeroCheck.exe
NvCplDaemon = RUNDLL32.EXE C:\WINDOWS\system32\NvCpl.dll,NvStartup
REGSHAVE = C:\Program Files\REGSHAVE\REGSHAVE.EXE /AUTORUN
SunJavaUpdateSched = "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_09\bin\jusched.exe"
WheelMouse = C:\Program Files\A4Tech\Mouse\Amoumain.exe
First it looks like 2 AV programs.
I have a A-Open wheel mouse and don't need the software it came with to use it fully.
I think "NeroCheck" can be disabled.
"Ikeymain.exe" looks like bloatware.
"MercoraClient.exe" looks like a music-search software, which could probably configured so it doesn't run at StartUp.
I'd wonder how necessary "HotKey.exe" is. Looks like bloat to me.
I know Daemon can be configured so "daemon.exe" doesn't run at StartUp.
And I imagine that "AsusProb.exe" is something that came with the Motherboard software that could be uninstalled, unless there is a need to constantly monitor (I assume) temperatures & what-not.

Hope this helps,

Girderman

Also "GSICON.EXE" can be disabled

adamantium is using AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5 and AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic, which I think you confused AVG Anti-Spywre with AVG Anti-Virus. So there is only 1 anti-virus program installed.

Ikeymain.exe is for A4Tech wireless keyboard driver and utility which actually is User's choice - depends whether a user deems it necessary.

Yes, Daemon can be configured so "daemon.exe" doesn't run at StartUp.

Mercora MusicSearch "Search, find and listen to music on the world's largest jukebox, built by people just like you".
Not required - typically infrequently used tasks that can be started manually if necessary
http://www.tasklist.org/task_Mercora...exe_10903.html

Quote:
gsicon.exe creates a shortcut icon to the Eicon modem connection monitoring tool. This is a non-essential process. Disabling or enabling it is down to user preference.

Sorry dont know how I missed some of those

..Thanks

You may have had Firefox open when you used the program

I don't like the use of any P2P file sharing software, is this not what utorrent is?

What type of mouse are you using? PS2/OPT?

What programs have you noticed your mouse icon disappearing and at what times?

Just know adam that it is always a trade-off. Everything you set to run at startup is going to increase boot-time. No magic wand here.

SO everything has to be considered in terms of priority. NEEDS have to stay. The first objective is to identify which things CAN'T be gotten rid of.

Within the "want" catagory, you should prioritze. Do you really HAVE to have Daemon Tools start with windows, if you only occasionally mount a disk. It takes about the same amount of time for Daemon to launch and mount a disk, than it does to mount one from running in the background.

However, I don't think Daemon increases load time that much. But it's a cumulative effect, they all add up.

No apology necessary. I assumed you looked in one place of the report and I sort of dug around a bit somewhere else. Is there somewhere in there where the Startup and Services are presented more like how they appear in MSCONFIG ? Especially with the MS services hidden would be nice.

Adam can you do screen shots ?
