NTLDR error message (not the one you're thinking of!)

I'm getting the following error message after rebooting my PC: "NTLDR: Fatal Error 256 reading BOOT.INI"

Someone once told me to remember the last thing you did to your PC before it started acting funny (and in my case, its acting REALLY funny, or not funny at all), and in my case, I used a "patch" from lvllord.de to change XP SP2's limit of concurrent TCP connection from 10 whatever number I desired. That number was 80, and my PC worked fine. Today I decided to change that number from 80 to 100, so I ran the same patch again, and I needed to reboot the PC. Upon rebooting, I got the above error message!

Both times upon running the patch, I got a warning from the Windows File Protection System that someone was attempting to change my system files. The patch instructs you to cancel any of those messages and to allow the files to be changed. The first time this happened, when I changed the number of connections from 10 to 80, I had no problems. Today, I tried changing from 80 to 100 --- BIG problem!

I don't know if this has anything to do with the above error message, but to me its more than a coincidence that this happened on a reboot following a change in system files!

Anywho, I'm running Windows XP SP2 (slipstreamed). Due to a previous problem with the dreaded "A disk read error occurred" pandemic, I'm running XP on FAT32 instead of NTFS, and it seems to have helped me avoid that error message.

But today I have a different problem.

HELP!!!!!!

But this solution sounds like its only for the "NTLDR is missing, press any key to restart" error message, which this is not.

Oh, and to clarify my earlier post, the "patch" I mentioned above seems to only modify file TCPIP.SYS in the directory C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS and C:\WINDOWS\SERVICEPACKFILES\I386 according to the website
