Constant freezing whilst Gaming/watching youtube video's

Sorry if this isn't the right forum and hello, I just recently bought a new computer and it is causing me some problems.

I originally bought it to play computer games on it as I do enjoy gaming, though it continues to freeze on me whenever I do so.

When I start up a game it plays fine on max settings (Borderlands/Crysis/COD4, etc.) thought after about 1 - 2 hours later it freezes giving me the only option of a hard restart.

When I start the computer up again I put the game on and this time it freezes after about 5 - 30 minutes. This even happens when I watching videos on youtube.

My computer specs are as followed;

Make/Model: Dell XPS 630
CPU: C2Q - Q8200 @ 2.33GHz
MEMORY: 3GB
HARDDRIVE: 640GB
OPTICAL DRIVE: DVD RW
VIDEO CARD: GEFORCE 9800 GT 512MB (x2)

If anything else is required, please let me know and please could someone help. I am at my wits end.
