My System

Re: Windows Temp Excessive Files Urgent!!!!

The Windows Temp folder is not normally used for normal program installations. There are other temp folders used for that purpose - one directory being C:\Users\-username-\AppData\Local\Temp

Proceed to to our Security Center, Virus/Trojan/Spyware Help Forum, to have your system reviewed by a Security Analyst. Please be sure to follow THESE STEPS carefully before posting your logs in the Security Forum.

Please be patient as the Security Analysts are very busy and one will get to you as soon as possible.

Regards. . .

Re: Windows Temp Excessive Files Urgent!!!!

I dont actualy think that the problem is a virus as i have done scans with Mcafee. Mcafee didnt pick up anything after the load of viruses found earlier. i was actualy thinking that it may something to do with the internet browser or some other web dependant program.

and what sort of programs place .tmp's in there. that might give us a suspect.

thanks
cheers

Re: Windows Temp Excessive Files Urgent!!!!

My System

Re: Windows Temp Excessive Files Urgent!!!!

There is no guide to tell us exactly what should or should not be in the \windows\temp folder at any given time. This goes for the number of files as well as he total size.

Given the fact that you are looking at this folder or were alerted by something to do so, coupled with the fact that your system is/was infected, it would really be in your best interest to have your system reviewed by a Security analyst using the link that I provided.

Re: Windows Temp Excessive Files Urgent!!!!

After the analasis will that give me all the necisary information to simply post to you and does it require a fast connection because I am running on a very very slow Internet connection and I was wandering it that will mean like leaving it on all day. Recently I had a similar problem where there was a generic!fakealert trojen which kept re appearing every 5 minutes exactly on the dot and it would be picked up by mcafee straight away and when the Internet was turned off the problem wad resolved untill the Internet was re-connected and this file was a .tmp in the windows temp folder and when I reset the modem and it did a full reboot it was fine and there was no trace if the file. I've already tried restarting it and nothing. I was only alerted to the files as I was saying that there where viruses there so I checked it out and then I found the large amount of files. They are all only 1kb though?

Thanks a lot for being patient this is probebly realy iritating for you. Just please stay with me. And how long is the waiting list thank a bunch!!!!!
