Couple Issues with Windows 7
Hey guys, I just upgraded to Windows 7, and so far so good for the most part, but I've noticed a few problems and was hoping someone could at least help me with one of them.
First of all, I use Firefox to browse the web, and many times randomly it'll just stop loading web pages. If I try to click a link or go to a site, at the bottom left of the window where it shows what it's doing, it just says "Stopped". From then on, I can't browse the web with Firefox or any other browser, until I restart the computer and everything works again. My next problem, comes with restarting the computer. As it's loading, and has the Win 7 logo up on the screen, occasionally it'll just stop there. It's not exactly frozen, since I can still see the ambient light animation of the logo glowing slightly, but it just stays at that screen. Sometimes the first time I try restarting it boots fine, straight through, sometimes it hangs at that screen and I have to restart once and it works, and sometimes it keeps hanging at that screen and won't fully start until I've tried booting 5 or 6+ times. Any help with either of these issues would be greatly appreciated, thanks guys. |

Did you upgrade from XP to Windows 7?
How does IE8 behave compared to Firefox? Last edited by jcgriff2; 11-06-2009 at 08:59 PM. |

Re: Couple Issues with Windows 7
Nah, initially I had my computer partitioned with XP/Vista, and I upgraded the Vista side to Windows 7.
And when I start getting the problem, IE8 just says that it can't connect to the server, same as if I had no internet connection at all. |

Re: Couple Issues with Windows 7
If you just upgraded Vista to Windows 7 and IE8 does not work..... something happened during the upgrade.
Did IE7/ 8 work under Vista? |

Re: Couple Issues with Windows 7
Well the thing is, IE8 normally does work, it only stops working randomly along with any other browser. Still though, I am thinking you might be right about a problem during the upgrade because of the booting issue.
And as far as I remember I never had this problem under Vista, but the thing is I barely used Vista, sticking to XP for the most part. Nonetheless, I don't recall this problem so it looks like it surfaced in Windows 7. |

Re: Couple Issues with Windows 7
I would re-format the HDD with KillDisk then re-install the OS again.
KillDisk - http://www.killdisk.com/downloadfree.htm Make bootable KillDisk ISO CD w/ ImgBurn - ImgBurn - http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download |

Re: Couple Issues with Windows 7
Unfortunately the reason I just updraded my Vista partition rather than XP, was so I could keep all of the stuff I have saved. Oh well, I suppose I'll just live with the issues for now, and if it really gets too bad, I'll try and find a harddrive I can use to back up my data.
Thanks anyways for the help. |
