[SOLVED] Need assistance with installing Vista Home Premium
I have a dell dimension desktop. I would like to install Vista Home Premium.
Here is my dilema: I have an upgrade CD (XP Mediacenter -> Vista Home Premium(. I wanted to use that to reinstall vista (clean install). I have windows 7 RC on it at the moment. Is it possible to do a full install with an upgrade disk? I am unsure as what to do for this. I have a legit key but need to reinstall fresh thats all. |

Re: Need assistance with installing Vista Home Premium
OK...
I mentioned it b/c it was a surprise to me after the way Vista is able to format in under 60 seconds flat! My 320GB HDD initially took > 20 hours, subsequent runs are under 5. |

Re: Need assistance with installing Vista Home Premium
The partitions are just deleted. The space is released back to the pool. No overwite 0/1 occurs. Hence the 2 mins.
All upgrade discs have the files necessary for a clean install. The key is to wipe the drive 1st. Take special note of small partitions the size of which would be small even for DOS. |

Re: Need assistance with installing Vista Home Premium
I wouldn't have thought of that. I read about a work around for vista installation with an upgrade but you had to have XP installed first and then install.
Oh, do i have to use the upgrade key itself or can i use the key thats on my PC's tower? |
