Getting random crashes + screeching feedback through headphones
Hi,
For the last couple of months my PC has been locking up at random times. There is no BSOD and there is a screeching sound over my headphones when it crashs while my PC is playing a video or iTunes, etc. I've run my Antivirus, Registry scanner, defrag, memory test and scandisk and nothing is coming up as being wrong. Specs. OS - Vista Processor - Intel Pentium D 3.00 Ghz RAM - Two gigs, DDR2 GPU - Nvidia 7600GT |

Re: Getting random crashes + screeching feedback through headphones
Had a similar problem, while playing any type of audio file, streaming from the internet, an internal or external hard drive or off my phone (through a data cable or blue tooth), comp. would stop responding and would have to use task manager to log off, i eventually uninstalled my "multi media audio controller", downloaded the most recent from my motherboard manufacturers site and it fixed the problem. Hope this helps.

Re: Getting random crashes + screeching feedback through headphones
Is there anything in event viewer that might point to what's going on?

Re: Getting random crashes + screeching feedback through headphones
I believe I did this right. I have no idea what's in this information though. Hopefully someone can help me figure out why my computer is crashing.

Re: Getting random crashes + screeching feedback through headphones
Have you ever changed the voltages in the BIOS? What's the make/model/wattage of the power supply?

Re: Getting random crashes + screeching feedback through headphones
I personally think that's the problem. 430W probably won't do well in a modern system. I recommend an upgrade, at least a 650W.
