Reincarnation (option 1: windows 7 cd/dvd driver device driver)
Warning: This is gonna be messy.
Okay... So I have a HP dv6000 with Windows Vista Home Premium. Over the past six months it has been suffering from hard drive issues, resulting in crashes. The remedy to fix the crashed hard drive has been to do a complete system restore by booting the computer, hitting F11, and doing a COMPLETE SYSTEM RECOVERY to factory settings. However, this last time I went to recover to factory settings I got a message saying Error: 10002 - Contact HP if this persists. Long story short, I have now warranty, and do not want to get the hardware fixed nor the software looked at. I am happy with a barely functioning computer as I have a desktop I primarily use. I am also a student in the School of Business at a state university, and we have a partnership with Microsoft for free product downloads. With that said, I have had the pleasure of using Windows 7 Professional for quiet some time on my desktop. Now, I want to just reinstall Windows on my laptop - whether its vista, xp, or 7. That said, I have all three ISO's burned to a CD and LEGAL CD KEYS to use with them. XP had a partition issue that I haven't spent much time with, and windows vista wont recognize my cd key that came with the laptop (THIS IS THE ONLY CD KEY I DID NOT GET ONLINE FOR I HAVE ONE LEGALLY VIA MY COMPUTER PURCHASE). For that reason, I moved on to Windows 7. I go to install it, and the first thing that comes up in that windows 7 needs to install a cd/dvd driver device driver. It will allow me to use any means necessary, but I do not know what to give it to make it happy. I have looked else where, and for reasons listed above I deem this the easiest solution - granted I could be wrong. I am an Information Technology student, so I have knowledge of computers to a reasonable extent. So please, what can I do to bring this thing back to life!! Thanks |

Re: Reincarnation (option 1: windows 7 cd/dvd driver device driver)
hi there,
2 months back i had a similar problem when i wanted to install win 7 for the first time on my desktop. i changed the DVD drive and it worked fine. the earlier model of the DVD drive was purchased in early 2007. lack of firmware update can make a difference. |

I think so, I went to their website and they have drivers for just about everything except the CD/DVD Driver.
