[SOLVED] Can't Exit Task Manager
Can't Exit Task Manager
For the past two days, I have been unable to exit Task Manager normally. The menu and red exit button are missing. I am sure I inadvertently put Task manager in Tiny Footprint Mode, because I can re size the window. I have read many articles on the internet about how to resolve this issue. Nothing works. I can escape Task Manager by pressing ALT and F4 at the same time, but who wants to do that every time? Plus, doing this will exit every window I opened after Task Manager, before it closes task Manager. I read that double clicking the grey border around the window or at the top of the window, would return the Task Manager to it's normal mode. This will NOT work for me. If I double click the border, it is emphasized with a darker outline (as in fig.1). If I click outside the window, the emphasized border goes away (as in fig. 2). I cannot affect any other changes, no matter what I do. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. |

Re: Can't Exit Task Manager
Double click just to the left of the End Task button. You have to click in the "bordering" area, not on the border itself.

TheOutcaste,
I appreciate your suggestion, but it didn't work. Before posting, I double clicked everywhere. Border, border area, you name it, I've double clicked it. It does not work. I am currently scanning for infections. |

Re: Can't Exit Task Manager
Hope you find it. Haven't run into that problem yet. Only thing that comes to mind is if your mouse settings got changed so that you aren't double clicking fast enough; but then you wouldn't be able to double click anything, so that would be pretty obvious. Good Luck!

Re: Can't Exit Task Manager
I double clicked because I was instructed to, but it really wasn't necessary. My computer is set to do anything with one click that ordinarily would take two. I thought most people would be using this feature by now. I guess not.

Re: Can't Exit Task Manager
that is a good feature if only one person is using the pc, but if more than that are using it and double clicking instead then 2 x application are trying to open at once.

Re: Can't Exit Task Manager
Even when set to single click mode, switching the Task Manager in and out of Mini mode requires double clicking. Can't hurt to double check the double click speed. If you don't use it you won't notice if it's set to fast.

Re: Can't Exit Task Manager
I was not aware that when set to single click mode, two clicks were still required for switching Task Manager modes. I have learned something new and I thank you.
I slowed down my double click speed and was then able to get Task Manager out of Mini mode. I will leave double click on slow, since I never use it. I saw at least a hundred posts on the internet addressing how to get out of Task Manager Mini mode. Not one mentioned that if double clicking didn't work, try reducing double click speed. Again, I thank you very much. Likekinds |
