Vista 32 and Acer Aspire 5536 dvd driver prob.

Ok my friend has an Acer Aspire 5536 aptop with vista home premium and he is having problem with the dvd drive. I went in ti device manager and found that the driver was messed up due to a regisrty error, either an invalid line entry or file. so far the only thing i could to was disk check and reinstalling the driver.I tried to use a vista disk i put on a fash drive to fix the problem by finding the good drivers but when i plug the drive in windows runs in to problems when installung the drivers for my 4 gig sandisk cruizer flash drive. How do i fix this problem? Is there a way to reinstall with out losing the programs acer providson the lap top like you can with xp? And can i use my disk and his key to reinstall on his lap top? the os matches and most of us know you can't upgrade a lap top so nothing has been changed.

Hi you need to uninstall the dvd\cd driver from the device manager and reboot windows will reinstall no need to do anything else

goto acer website find support and drivers then get all drivers

I tried uninstalling the drivers first but it didn't work, Acer has no drivers for the dvd drive. I'm guessing it's a messed up install of windows cause of the driver problems, I told my friend he would most likely have to return the lap top for a new one or for repairs.
