Please follow the instructions here: http://www.techsupportforum.com/1871981-post2.html

It will provide us with the Blue Screen memory dumps so that we can debug them and hopefully see what's going on with your computer.

Re: Bluescreen/vista

There are three bugchecks, one 0x7E and two 18 that point to vtany.sys:
Code:
*******************************************************************************
*                                                                             *

*******************************************************************************

SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M (1000007e)
This is a very common bugcheck. Usually the exception address pinpoints
the driver/function that caused the problem. Always note this address
as well as the link date of the driver/image that contains this address.
Some common problems are exception code 0x80000003. This means a hard
coded breakpoint or assertion was hit, but this system was booted
/NODEBUG. This is not supposed to happen as developers should never have
hardcoded breakpoints in retail code, but ...
If this happens, make sure a debugger gets connected, and the
system is booted /DEBUG. This will let us see why this breakpoint is
happening.

Arg2: afbf6561, Object whose reference count is being lowered
Arg3: 00000001, Reserved
Arg4: 68000000, Reserved
The reference count of an object is illegal for the current state of the object.
Each time a driver uses a pointer to an object the driver calls a kernel routine
to increment the reference count of the object. When the driver is done with the
pointer the driver calls another kernel routine to decrement the reference count.
Drivers must match calls to the increment and decrement routines. This bugcheck
can occur because an object's reference count goes to zero while there are still
open handles to the object, in which case the fourth parameter indicates the number
of opened handles. It may also occur when the object’s reference count drops below zero
whether or not there are open handles to the object, and in that case the fourth parameter
contains the actual value of the pointer references count.

I can find NO information on vtany.sys on the Internet, from what I can see from your msinfo32 log, it's a legacy driver. I can't get any more information because it's in another language.

First, download and install service packs 1 and 2. You have to install 1 before 2. Here's SP1: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
And SP2: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

After those finish, post back and let us know how the system's running. Good luck.

Mistake Re: Bluescreen/vista

Hi,

I am facing Bluescreen error issue in my Dell Studio 15 which i have brought 1.5 months ago. :sigh

the error description is it shows Bluescreen for 1 or 2 seconds, in which the message shows that A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

Also asks to check BIOS, and check for driver and software and so many different things which i can't read in that one or two seconds. After which the system restarts.

Also, it shows

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

This "PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA", i find sometimes getting displayed and sometimes not. earlier this was not getting displayed in the bluscreen.

I have not installed any hardware or driver before this issue started arising but there were so many softwares which i download from internet. After i faced the issue, I reinstalled different drivers as much as i find from CD provided by dell, also different drivers i found from Dell support website. Yesterday i uninstalled the firewall as well, but in vein.

Initially there was no problem, but since i have started using Plug in Modem based Internet, this error is occurring.

Also, this error occurs only when the system is connected to internet. Otherwise it works fine. I have also noticed that this happens faster if i increase the load on the internet like downloading a file or opening so many websites.

...Is that a problem that you're having?

Please start your own thread here: http://www.techsupportforum.com/micr...ows-7-support/

Post as much information as possible (ie. when do you get it, how long has it been happening for, etc.).
