Angry Vista booting into a black screen with only the cursor working

Vista 32 Bit Home Premium

Before vista booted into a black screen, I turned on my computer to discover that it wouldn't load my profile. I got to the welcome screen where you can choose which user you wanted and enter a password but I only have one user on that computer and I recently took off the password so I shouldn't even see that screen come up. I try to log in anyways and vista gave me an error but I don't remember the exact error. It had something to do with user profile though.

After a few attempts of trying to log in, I kept getting the same error and I couldn't load onto my desktop so I restarted the computer. After that I only saw the green loading bar for 2 seconds and saw a split second BSOD. I ran the vista recovery DVD and did a system repair. That repair fixed the BSOD but now I see a black screen with a movable cursor after the the green loading bar finishes.

I have tried system repair to no avail. System restore does not work. Memory check came out clean. Checked the hives. I tried almost everything I read on the internet but to no avail. I really do not want to reformat my hard drive because I have a lot of important files on it.

Anyone have any more ideas that I have missed? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hi,
I think your display driver or video card need to be checked.
