windows only recognizing 3 speakers of 5.1 after new mob install
Windows 7 Ultimate
Hi I really dont know if this problem is with windows, my sound card (xfi xtreme gamer) or the new motherboard I installed. But this card worked perfectly fine b4 on the old board. Anyway after installing the new board, I only get 4 channels, front L/R and both rears to work, when creative console launcher is set to 5.1. Windows only shows me running 3 speakers. Same with ventrilo as well. For example, in vent, instead of saying, "Speakers 5.1-Speakers Creative X-Fi" in the output device pulldown tab, in the place of 5.1 it says "3". Everywhere else in windows, sound properties etc. it says I am using 3 speakers. I have reinstalled the drivers twice with no change. I also made sure the sw/center channel output wasnt dead (the 2 channels not working). What could this be? A windows setting Im missing? Could it be the sound card itself? I wouldnt imagine it could be a malfunctioning pci slot on the mob could it? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! |
