Hey guys I've been having some issues with my computer that arose middle of last week. I started noticing that whenever I used google, the google search result would be redirecting me to some other link. So I decided to do an ad-ware/spyware scan and when that didn't resolve my problem, I used AVG to do a computer virus scan and it found a few viruses. I chose to have AVG get rid of the viruses, and since then I've been having BSOD issues.
I've had the computer for 3 years now and its worked and booted fine before this. Initially the problem was the computer simply booting insanely slowly(probably took like 5 minutes once I logged in at the welcome screen until the desktop would be ready to use) but then eventually its reached a point where it'll set at the desktop loading for 5 minutes and then eventually give me a BSOD with the error "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL". I've actually had 3 different BSOD's over the last few days, invalid_work_queue_item, irql_not_less_or_equal(the one that occurs probably 90% of the time) and page_fault_in_nonpaged_area. For example the last BSOD I had was a IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL with STOP: 0x0000000A (0x9F08FBAC, 0x0000001B, 0x0000001, 0x820AD7A0). Usually the error will be something like that except the 1st number inside the parentheses (in this case 0x9F08FBAC) will change. Also, I'm using Safe Mode with Networking right now, and its working fine for now, but in the last couple of hours I've actually gotten a few BSODs while in Safe Mode (IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL) if that means anything. I don't have any service packs installed either, I'm currently in the process of downloading SP1 for my Vista Home Premium OS, not sure if that would help at all though. I'm dumb when it comes to these BSOD type issues, would really appreciate your help! Just a note: the ZIP file I included doesn't have the PERFMON HTML file, I was able to do the PERFMON /report in safe mode, it didn't let me for some reason. Re: Slow Boot and then BSOD
Hm...your System Information is unavailable. Says "Cannot access the Windows System Information software. The file may be missing or corrupt." This could be because it was in safe mode, but I don't think that would effect it.
To make sure your system files are alright, open a command prompt (Start>type cmd and enter the following command: sfc /scannow. Let it run and let us know how it goes. I'll look at the rest of the information now. Good luck. EDIT: There are no minidumps in the attachment, either. I don't like this... Navigate to C:\Windows and look for a folder named Minidump. Zip the contents up and attach it to your next post. Last edited by DT Roberts; 09-21-2009 at 09:47 PM. |

Re: Slow Boot and then BSOD
Thanks for the reply, I'm still in safe mode as we speak. Just checked C:\Windows\Minidump and there was nothing in that folder. Running the system scan as we speak, i'll let you know what it says when it finishes.
THanks |
