Windows 7 BSOD - DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE
Hey guys, i'm having the same problem as a few other people here, but i've decided to make my own thread.
I am running Windows 7 Ultimate x64, and i'm having some trouble with it. It randomly just flashes to a BSOD with the error DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE and then reboots. This doesn't happen when i try to manually shut down or go to standby mode. What information do you need me to post to help diagnose this problem? Thanks, NOSPI. |

Re: Windows 7 BSOD - DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE
Thanks for the help Infalliblexone, i did what you said.
I've attached the files. The two disabled drivers in the perfmon report were manually disabled, because i thought they may have been causing the problem, but it's still happening even with them disabled. I've read a few other posts about this same error, but those people usually got the problem when they had a change of power state, like hibernating or shutting down, but mine just does it randomly when i'm in the middle of doing something. |

Re: Windows 7 BSOD - DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE
All of the bugchecks are 0x9F and point to the same driver, mausbft.sys. This is apparently a USB audio driver.
Is this a home built PC? What's the wattage on the power supply? Are you using a USB audio device? Code:

Re: Windows 7 BSOD - DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE
Yes i'm using an M-Audio Fast Track USB audio interface. It's not a home built PC, my dad got it a couple of weeks ago. NEC Powermate something. I'm pretty sure its a 450 watt power supply.
I remember now when i was first setting it up, this audio interface doesn't have drivers that support Windows 7 yet. I need it for recording though, so i found a workaround and it does work, the audio interface works fine, but it must be causing this. I need the audio interface for recording and music playback, but i'm guessing i have to just wait until the drivers are available for Windows 7? Thankyou for the help. Sorry i didn't mention this before, i'd forgotten about that. Any advice on what to do? I'll keep trying to make it work as best as i can, recording is basically all i use my computer for so i'd really like to be able to keep it working if possible. |

Re: Windows 7 BSOD - DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE
It looks like the driver isn't compatible quite yet. That's the most likely cause. When 7 is released, the drivers should work fine. This "workaround" is what's giving you the BSOD.
I don't really know what to tell you, to be blunt, but I can say that the BlueScreens are being caused by this workaround. Whether you keep it or not is up to you. |

Re: Windows 7 BSOD - DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE
Ok, thankyou for the help. They're not happening as frequently anymore. I've been saving all my work every few minutes so for the time being i'll push on ahead, i really need to be able to use this. If not i might have another device that is compatible with Win 7.
Thanks again, -NOSPI. |
