[SOLVED] Windows 7 Upgrade over Windows 7 RC

I had a question and I can't seem to find an answer. Will you be able to install the full release of Windows 7 Upgrade over Windows 7 RC? I am currently running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and have pre-ordered Windows 7 Ultimate x64 Upgrade version and was wondering if I need to revert back to Vista before I can upgrade to the full release.

Hi -

Is your Vista x64 an OEM version of full retail version?

If OEM, who is the OEM (HP, Dell, etc...)?

You cannot upgrade from the RC version to the the full retail.
I was able to leave my games I installed on Windows 7 RC and they stayed and played without re installation (on my second hard drive). Which was nice since I have around 150 gb's worth of games on there.

I don't think you should go for the upgrade install as they don't seem as stable as a retail or OEM copy myself.

I don't know much much about OEM versions of Vista on Dell's and other manufacturer's being upgraded to W7.

I have Windows 7 Ultimate x64 RC installed but I have also installed XP x64 and Vista x86 on the same computer in the past. It sounds like I would have to install one of them before I install Windows 7 upgrade huh? Should I install Vista or XP? Both of them are validated versions.
