Unable to delete files from flash drive

My OS is Windows Vista Ultimate. The 4GB flash drive which I am using is designated as E:\. There are two MS Word files displayed each time I open the E drive. In attempting to delete these files I have exhausted all possibities that I know (which are limited for sure). One program that I tried was "Revo Uninstaller" which had no effect whatever. Nevertheless, they continue to display upon opening the drive.

The following window pops up after attempting to delete them: "Could not find this item. This is no longer located in E:\. Verify the items location and try again."

Is there a simple solution to remove what is stated not to be in existence, yet continues to display?

Re: Unable to delete files from flash drive

Actually, there's no problem with the Flash drive to my knowledge. Yes, it works fine on my wife's notebook (OS Vista Home Basic). But the two Word files continue to display, yet I cannot remove them.

Re: Unable to delete files from flash drive

I didn't see the post until now, but inconsistencies in the file system can also cause that. Run chkdsk on drive E:. Open a new command prompt window and type
chkdsk e:
if it reports errors, run
chkdsk e: /f
to repair them
