Blue Screen of Death help

For the past 2 months I have been having problems with my computer where it would crash and display the blue screen of death. When the blue screen is displayed, it will say that there was either a USB_Driver error or one of the cores on my processor had failed. I know that the blue screen of death does a memory dump which could help find out where the error is, but I don't know how to read the .dmp file.

What I need help with is finding out what's wrong with my computer so I can get these problems fixed.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Please follow the instructions here: http://www.techsupportforum.com/1871981-post2.html

It will provide us with information, and will give us the .dmp file to read.

Yep, they're all pointing to USBPORT.SYS. It is up to date, though; the SP2 version is installed. The bugcheck is 0xFE.

Code:

Try opening an elevated command prompt (Start>type cmd>right-click it>Run as Administrator. Run the command sfc /scannow and see where it gets you.

Good luck.

Re: Blue Screen of Death help

After running the sfc command in the command prompt it found errors and corrected them. I won't really know if it's fixed until about a month has gone by, but for now I'm happy.

Thanks a lot for your help InfalliblexOne.

Re: [SOLVED] Blue Screen of Death help

Good news and bad news.

Bad news is the problem happened again.
Good news is it didn't take long to happen again so I can start trying other things to fix the problem.

I'm going to try reinstalling the motherboard drivers and see if that fixes the problem. I'll comment again once I've done that.

Hopefully it works.

Currently in the USB drives are my Saitek Cyborg Mouse, Saitek Eclipse Keyboard, my 30GB Zune, and my Canon iP1800 printer.

Re: Blue Screen of Death help

Alright. I found the solution to this problem. It was a power issue. I was using an old PSU while mine was being replaced. The PSU I was using was 350W. The PSU I just got back the was replaced is 1200W. I have a pretty powerful computer and I'm assuming that the motherboard wasn't getting enough power. Hopefully this helps others who have this problem.
