Ram not showing up

Had Geek Squad install 4gb of ram on my Compaq. Got it home and it was fine for two days but when a Windows Update rebooted my cp the ram no longer shows, just the 256mg on my motherboard. I really don't want to take it back to them: 5 days just to install ram and it's a 2 hour round-trip. Anyone know how I can fix this on my own? Thanks so much.

how many memory modules have u installed in your system
try interchanging the ram slots
