[SOLVED] Vista 64-bit BSOD
My friend has a Dell Studio laptop which is 6 months old. I have tried to find a solution and can't figure it out.
He is getting a BSOD which at first appeared to be random, however it now occurs every time he uses a flash drive. The BSOD error code is:0x0000007E (0xFFFFFFC0000005,0xFFFFF8000283FB1,0xFFFFFA60037947D8,0xFFFFFA60037941B0) The 0x0000007E is always the same, a few of the digits further in the code are different each time, but for the most part it is the same code. The BSOD started after his dog knocked the laptop off his desk while he was downstairs. Any help would be appreciated, and he needs his laptop for work so the faster the better. Thanks in advance, if any more info is needed please let me know.

Re: Vista 64-bit BSOD
Nothing to do with the dog, actually. I believe that a faulty update was installed: KB379879. It's been wreaking havoc for thousands of 64-bit users. It's now temporarily removed from Microsoft.
This is the fix: http://www.techerator.com/2009/08/fi...ndows-updates/ Good luck, and let me know if that doesn't solve it. |
