Re: Dual Boot Windows 7 and Windows XP HOW?
Hi -
I never had a dual boot XP & Win7, but did have Vista & Windows 7. As you now know, the "inferior" OS goes in 1st. XP, then Windows 7. Microsoft Support How-To Dual boot - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555852 MS Support - "Vista won't start after XP installed..." - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/919529 That is the same as XP & Windows 7. I rarely give out a search result link, but in case you have other questions - from MS Support - 133 KB's on dual boot issues - http://support.microsoft.com/search/...3comm=1&res=20 I hope that you have considerably less issues than that. Re: Dual Boot Windows 7 and Windows XP HOW?
Windows 7 uses a BCD, while pre-Vista OS's use ntldr and a boot.ini. The only way you will be able to dual boot XP and Win7 is to use the Win7 bootloader, as suggested above, you will have to find an application that can link the legacy boot.ini to the newer bootloader. It sounds like you aren't quite sure how to use EasyBCD, have you read up on it's function and how to use it?
