Re: vista BIOS problems
Correct me if I'm wrong, bit Geforce 8500 GT is a video card, not a motherboard. Video cards have their own BIOS I believe...did you try to update this? Did you add or change anything before the blue screens started?
First thing I would try is to install the latest drivers for your 8500GT and they MUST be 64-bit drivers. In addition, download a program called CPU-Z and run it. When it opens, the third tab says "Mainboard". Click on it and post the information back here and we'll locate the proper BIOS for you. nvidia drivers: http://www.nvidia.com/object/win7_wi...0.62_whql.html cpu-z: http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php

Re: vista BIOS problems
Did you use 64-bit drivers or 32-bit drivers?
Here's the link for your motherboard, it has all the updates for it. http://support.asus.com/download/dow...Language=en-us

Re: vista BIOS problems
Download the driver again just to make sure it wasn't corrupted during the transfer.
Go to your device manager and look for your video card under "Display Adapters." Open up your video card and go to the "Driver" tab. Click "Uninstall Driver." You may have to reboot (if you do reboot, when Windows loads up your monitor will probably be a different resolution and very choppy...this is normal). Once again, try to install your drivers. If you still get a Code 39, Microsoft says to contact their tech support to resolve the issue. I'm sorry I can't be of more help, but let me know how it works out.

Re: vista BIOS problems
Its possible, but from other solutions I've seen you probably need a registry hack. I am not comfortable or competent enough regarding registries to tell you exactly what needs to be corrected, so I would suggest calling Microsoft.

Re: vista BIOS problems
...you think Microsoft techs know more than us? :P
I'd wait until a member of the Microsoft Support team here is available. Once they see the post, they'll most likely correct the problem. |
