Hey all,
Seeking background info before I venture 100k to investigate this, Win Vista Home Premium system. Daughter claims windows updated itself and re-booted overnight, now her internet connection is missing. I had her view recent updates by phone, and they seem to be Office and Malicious tool updates. Her internet was a routed/shared broadband. She tried to re-install via ISP cd, but it apparently just "ejects" and displays a msg " re-boot and try again." Does anyone know of recent update troubles?? Or do I suggest a "Restore" Thanks for any assistance. NT. |

Re: Net connection missing after Win update?
Go to the Search Bar and type CMD and hit enter. In the Command prompt type ipconfig does it come up with an IP Address (192.168.0.x)? if it is something like 0.0.0.0 or a 169.0.x.x. then type ipconfig /release and hit enter, then type ipconfig /renew and hit enter. You should see a new IP address. Try again.

Re: Net connection missing after Win update?
Hello and welcome to TSF, NTeyeball!
This is a very common case of Windows actually implementing it's own drivers and removing your current drives, which has actually happened to me before on several occasions. What you're going to have to do is replace your network drivers by going to your networks manufacturer website, which can be found easily. Please, go to your Start Orb then go to your search box and type cmd and right-click on cmd and select run as administrator, from here type dxdiag, now save all information to a textfile and send it over via attachment in your next post - from there, I'll give you a direct link to the nessecary driver.
