lil formatting trouble
prolly the wrong section but i figured i would just post this here....um basically something happened to my old motherboard but i saw it as an opportunity to upgrade my machine, got a new motherboard gfx card n my friend even gave me a hdd that he doesnt need anymore....so i hook it all up making sure everything is correct n it runs just fine...but he forgot to mention that the admin user name (being the only one on it) is passworded n he has no idea what it could be...so i thought that maybe putting in my xp cd (which is wat i want to be on there in the first place) would maybe allow me to format the hdd n start fresh but vista is still there n xp didnt even install just gave me some error that there r hardware n software changes so it cant or something like that. so i was wondering how could i format this hdd?

Re: lil formatting trouble
and welcome to the ForumThis is a good guide to reinstalling XP . . you might want to print it for reference during the install. . the key is deleteing the existing partitions early in the installation http://www.techhandbook.com/windows/...g-Windows.html
