[SOLVED] problem with adobe reader and adobe flash player

Hi,

I have Windows Vista 32 bit and from the beginning I have problems opening pdf's from internetsites: my computer suggests that I install the recent version of Adobe what I did (succesfully as adobe says). I tried some of the suggestions I found on the internet: uninstall - install, execute as administrator, change the compatibility to Windows server pack 2, upgrated the internet explorer, but still it doesn't work. Any suggestions?

Thanks a lot, Swaantje

Re: problem with adobe reader and adobe flash player

Here is a link to a cool Adobe Reader alternative http://www.foxitsoftware.com/downloads/index.php the program is not even close to half the size of Adobe's Reader.

What type of problem are you having with flash player?

Can you watch a youtube video?

I can watch a youtube video but there are a lot of sites where I cannot open the link on the site, for example www.clou.nl (there is a english version): if I go to ''downloads'' or I just choose any product so on the right site of the products there are some documents to download: it doesn't work (by normal clicking on the left side of the mouse) and I get the message as I described above.
Because I never can open a pdf file directly from an internetsite on this Vista computer I am using ''a trick'' to have a look in a pdf document by clicking on the rightside of the mouse, than I choose in the menu ''save as'' and I save the document and then I can open it and have a look in it. But for example on the site I mentioned above that ''trick'' doesn't work. If I click on the right side of the mouse I get a little menu ''settings'' and ''information on Adobe Flash Player 10''. But this menu doesn't bring me anywhere (at least not that I understand). When I look under ''information on Adobe Flash Player 10'' it says ''You have version 10,0,32,18 installed''. When I look under ''settings'' it has some choices about Settings of Adobe Flash Player like allowing the Adobe FP to the microphone, the camera, privacy etc.

I hope this will make my problem more understandable? Thanks anyway for the answers. Swaantje

Sorry, I forgot to react on that part of your suggestion: I followed the link but than I see about more than 20 programs to download and I don't have any idea which one I would need. Can you give a suggestion?

Thank you, Swaantje

Re: problem with adobe reader and adobe flash player

I believe you would be wanting the "Foxit Reader 3.0 Build 1817" as it is the newest one available.

Flash player for vista(64) bit

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Open Computer.
2. Navigate to C:\Windows\SysWOW64\.
3. Scroll down and open the Macromed directory.
4. Open the Flash directory.
5. Right-click FlashUtil9b.
6. Select Run as Administrator.
