Control Panel only works from Desktop
When left clicking the Control Panel from the start menu I receive the message "Application not found" If I right click the Control Panel and add to desktop I can open it without problems.
I have loked at several different solutions most require me to enter the command prompt, which although the start menu will find when I try to open it I am told it is missing from System32 folder, which it is. In addition if I right click on the desktop and choose personalize I cannot open "display settings" as the control.exe is missing. I get no response from right clicking "my computer" which is also rather odd and hopefully connected. I am guessing their will be several other similar problems with my OS but without testing every exe this is all I have todate. My OS is Vista home premium Service Pack 2 on a HP Pavilion dv3 notebook PC Please help. |
