format issue. harddrives not installed plz help

hello guys, plz stay with me a bit, this a long description of my problem. i have a dv9770 ev vista laptop and a geforce 8600m gs graphics card. i was playing prototype and everything was ok, till i saw a message that the game will run faster if i update the driver card. so i went the easy way to control panel-system-device control(dont knwo how exactly it is called)- screen-geforce card and i pressed the update button and restarted my pc
thats when the problems started. pixels were off, i couldnt read the texts and the games were unplayable in that situation and it got worse with time. a friend of mine said that this kind of problem could be solved if i reverted to a previous driver card version, so i went to control panel-system-device control- screen-geforce card and pressed the restore button below the update button( and the card was named from geforce to vga graphics card)
.
i could once again use the pc watch movies etc but i couldnt play cause it needed the driver card. i used different methods either through downloading and installing the drivers of various versions from hp.com , other sites , nvidia, and by automatically updating it through the update button control panel-system-device control- screen- and after the required restart so that the install could be finalised , every single time the screen would go blank during startup and after reseting the startup it would use the repair during startup function to revert the problem( ? ) and revert me to the system restore to the point where the card was named in device control just vga graphics card.
i have tried updating the vga graphics card with the correct nvidia grforce drivers and every time the pc recognises some problem , repairs itself during startup and reverts the card back to vga.
i can use the pc now but not beeing able to play any game is annoying.
can any1 help me?

Use system restore and restore the machine to a point before you altered any of the gpu drivers.

re: format issue. harddrives not installed plz help

Hello, First do what "emosun" has instructed to do, then follow my instructions here.

Go here for drive sweeper:
http://downloads.guru3d.com/Guru3D--...er)_d1672.html

Go into add/remove and remove any and all graphic drivers there, then use drive sweeper to remove anything remaining.
Reboot pc

Go here for Nvidia driver: you will need to put info since i dont know if desktop or laptop.
http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

Now download driver and install graphics driver, reboot pc

Note: It is always important to uninstall old driver before installing new driver and rebooting pc inbetween each task also.

re: format issue. harddrives not installed plz help

1st emosun if i had restore points be4 making the initial mistake i would have done it. unfirtunately i havent.
2nd risky i followed your instructions by letter and tried it again. same issue. even after all remnants of nvidia drivers was gone from the pc using the sweeper, and installing my nvidia driver card and restarting the pc, it still threw the same message and restarting with repair where it returns me back to the point where i have deleted the drivers with the sweeper. reading about the malfunctions that installing a driver on top of another driver might cause, i thought that would work, but still nothing. if this keeps up and nobody else has anyother idea, illtry to format it

re: format issue. harddrives not installed plz help

It sounds as though you havent installed the chipset driver first before any other driver installations, go here:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...671104&lang=nl

Download: "Driver - Chipset"

Is this the one you chose from Nvidia?
http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce...6.03_whql.html

Im assuming its a 32bit system, not a 64bit system.

1. Uninstall the video driver
2. reboot pc
3. Install chipset driver
4. reboot pc
5. Install chipset driver
6. reboot pc

format issue. harddrives not installed plz help

hello guys. i have a hp dv9770 ev laptop with intel core duo t9300 2.5 ghz, 3 gb ram, geforce 8600m gs, 2 hard disks hitach 240 g each one( or a 500g 1 split in 2.) and a vista home premium 32bit. my pc is lagging like hell, so i thought of formating it to xp ( got the bootable installation disk). but when i try it right when i press enter to begin the format, a message comes up where it says that the disks are not installed. i have searched about the problem and it says that

1 i need to enter the bios to change my drives from sata to ide so that they can be read. but my bios is phoenix and i dont know what to press in order to enter(havent entered be4). can some1 tell me how to enter and maybe step by step the instruction on how to perform the sata to ide change?

2 i was sent to this site http://www.msfn.org/board/Integratio...e-t107504.html where i presumably need to use some program and download the ide/sata disk drivers to use with the program in order to enter it along with the installation xp disk in a new cd, so that be4 a format is done i will have to use the drivers 1st to fix the problem.

but i used sandra sisoftware to see my motherboard info in order to use the correct driver along with the nlite program in the site but the motherboard is describes as Quanta 30cb 79.2 e i dont even know what it means but there is no option for it in http://www.msfn.org/board/Integratio...e-t107504.html

i am a complete noob at any kind of pc tweaking and my 1st time formating, so if some1 could plz take the time and show me how to change the disks in bios and guide me to a site where i can pick the correct drivers for this kind of motherboard? plz help
formating is my last option due to a graphic card problem that i have been fighting for days
http://www.techsupportforum.com/hard...ml#post2266645

http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=301568
this is where i have posted my graphics card problem. done everything and still nothing.
if some1 could plz help me with formating as repairing the card problem has no effect

I have merged your 3 threads together. The posts are in chronological order and may not appear to be a direct reply to the previous post. Please refrain from making multiple threads on the same system as it can lead to confusion.

I think you should give consideration to inserting your HP Vista recovery DVD into the DVD drive and restore the system back to factory default settings -- then start all of this over if you wish. There are just too many unknowns at present and additional ones seem to materialize by the hour.

That is your choice to make, of course.

Re: [SOLVED] format issue. harddrives not installed plz help

yes man, i got it fixed. but i installed some players and in each one of them while videos played it would showgreen and red vertical lines all around the video screen part....does this show a hardware graphics card problem? when the laptop has the factory settings without any other change on my part.
anyhowthe pc started the automatic update one of them was the graphics card driver and i thought if i just didnt interfere it would install correctly. i restarted the pc but once again the screen went black. i restarted again and it performed repair during startup and but if froze saying that repair isnt possible.
one more restart and it gave me the blue screen , but now it wouldnt shut down automatically and i had to manually do it. i tried entering bios-the system would follow with blue screen, i tried entering safe mode- same, i tried using the factory setting restore i used not an hour ago- same, i tried using the recovery disk- the pc froze at the middle of file loading all 3 times i tried it.
all my options that may corrected temporarily the problem just wont work now. i will get it for repair tomorrow.
unless there is any insane idea to make it work again
