How can we merge 2 drives in vista

I too wanted to merge 2 drives . I tried the options in the links. if i try to delete a volume or shrink it only creates free space which is not available to extend other drives.Is there a way make this free space unallocated ...?

i want to extend the drive on which my OS is loaded. When tried it using disk management & other softwares available on net it allows to extend only with the unalloacted space available which is very small. When i delete or shrink another drive only free space is created which is available only to extend the same drive from which it is created.Is there any way to merge 2 drives or make the free space unallocated...?
