Please click on the view tab and verify where you have checks next to for both top and bottom also on the view tab select customize and all should be checked except for description bar and action pane.

Re: diskmgmt.msc menu errors with video showing the problem.

The action and view tabs are acting weird too .... parts of those tabs are missing also. I have also tried to create a new diskmgmt.msc file in notepad using the method on this forum http://www.theeldergeek.com/forum/lofiversion/index.php?t4385.html But I still had the same exact menu problems even with the newly created diskmgmt.msc file.

I tried using my last complete system backup and system restore with no luck.

Should I try to do a repair install over my existing windows installation?

Sorry bout that the question was intended for another needing assistance here in the forum.

Yours is a laptop I know and hence may you may have the ability to restore factory settings which is pretty cool.

no way can I afford to return to factory settings. I would lose tons of data. This is not an option.

Data can always be backed up to external HDD CD/DVD Flash Drive etc. etc.

Also remember how the laptop ran when it was brand new? Well having it running like that again probably would be nice.
