I have a problem that whenever I right click on an executable application and select "properties" and then go to the "compatability" tab and change anything it changes those settings for every other application. So if I want to run a program under compatibility for windows xp it forces me to do that for everything.
These are the windows I am talking about: ![]() ![]() I wouldn't care about this problem at all except that when I try to put Half Life 2 into Xp compatibility Steam changes also and freaks out that I'm trying to run it in compatibility: ![]() And finally I would like to say that this is only a recent problem and I have been using both applications for a while and this has not happened before. I have never even heard of this problem . Anyway I hope that's enough information.

Re: Application "Properties"
Hi, you have tried I take it to remove Steam from the compatibility mode using the control box? Go to start and in search type regedit.exe reg editor will open navigate to :-
Code:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers

Re: Application "Properties"
Hi, first time into here is it, be careful, next to "current version" you have a further expansion of the key click on the > CurrentVersion to further expand the tree. If this bothers you just let us know what you see, I will try to write a .reg file to do it for you.

Re: Application "Properties"
Sorry didn't want to double post but can't seem to find edit button. To add to my previous problems it seems that now the problem of applying settings to one file and having them duplicated to other files has spread to the problem of all my files now being read only. And when I try to change them to no read only they go back.
