Windows 7 Explorer does not display my drives although present in device manager
I am using a dual boot system to try out Windows 7 RC. I have two IDE drives and a SATA drive. I have installed Windows 7 on the SATA drive. The other two discs (one is Windows XP Pro and other programs and the other is for all my data) dont show up in Windows 7 explorer but do show in the device manager and in the disk management part of Windows 7. In the Disc management, the IDE discs show as online but have no drive letters. The Disk manager shows the three disks as follows:
Disk 0 232.88 GB online Healthy (Active Primary Partion) This is the disk that Windows XP is installed on (See above) Disk 1 232.88 GB online Healthy (Active Primary Partion) 8MB Unallocated This is the data disk (see above) Disk 2 This shows the details of the SATA drive that Windows 7 is installed on. If I right click I am only given an option to delete the drives. (other options greyed out). Clearly I dont want to re-format or delete either of the disks, how do I solve this problem? Thanks in anticipation. |

Re: Windows 7 Explorer does not display my drives although present in device manager
I know that there are more knowledgeable people than me out there
, but I think that the drives might be dismounted. I think that this prevents them from being in Explorer but can be seen in Disk Management. Hopefully you can mount the disks in Disk Management.I also found this Mynaras |
